Help us continue and expand

We would like to continue providing hands-on garden and farm experiences for children this upcoming year. We also hope to expand to a new school with 350 students and create a learning lab at the farm.

When GROW started with one garden site in 2012 we hoped to continue to serve more children. In 2019, we supported eight garden sites and hosted 636 students at the farm through farm experiences at Deep Roots Community Farm, making connections with children to healthy food and nature.

Thank you for being a part of growing our mission!

Research conducted in 2017 by the Tisch Center for Food, Education, and Policy at Teachers College, Columbia University found that in schools that provide frequent, high-quality opportunities for hands-on nutrition learning, students eat up to three times more fruits and vegetables at school lunch — regardless of whether or not that food was grown in the garden. When asked how garden lessons impact her students Mindy Court, a second grade teacher at Hamilton Elementary shared, “Our Hamilton students are proud of the school garden and they truly see it as being something that we all share. The garden is something the kids can help plan, watch grow and develop, and call their own, as part of our school community. I love seeing the students light up when it's time for a garden lesson and this is something they never want to miss out on! I've seen our Hmong students find garden time as a chance to SHINE!”

It is only through generous support from donors like you that we are able to give students like those in Mrs. Court’s class an opportunity to shine while making a difference in their overall health.
